The principle of passive nail correction is based on the observation that heavily curved, involuted nails often exhibit a lesser degree of curvature at the proximal nail margin (i.e. in the area of the nail matrix and cuticle) than at the distal end of the nail plate (= free nail edge).

With passive nail correction, this lower degree of curvature of the nail plate is preserved as the nail grows forward, thereby achieving an overall flatter shape of the nail plate over time.

For this purpose, the UNGUISAN HARD COMPOSITE GEL is applied to the nail plate in strips and perpendicular to the direction of growth, and then cured.

The extremely hard composite strip acts like a "supportive corset" and grows forward with the nail. Meanwhile, the nail plate retains its curvature. All of this happens completely painlessly, tension-free, and gently. The procedure is therefore also suitable for cases where classic nail correction should not be performed (brittle nails, onycholysis, high-risk patients, etc.).

The method is also ideally suited to secure the correction results of a nail brace treatment and to sustainably preserve the improved nail shape.

Method 1: Using Plate Dentures

Nail Preparation

If necessary, carefully thin thickened nails down to a normal level. Remove any traces of nail polish if needed. Lightly roughen the surface of the nail. The nail should be dry, free of dust, and free of grease.

Applying UNGUISAN® PRIMER

In the area of the intended application, apply UNGUISAN PRIMER to the nail plate using a cotton swab or brush (single use only). Avoid skin contact. UNGUISAN® PRIMER is light-curing. Please only use the UNGUISAN® BLUE LIGHT HIGH-PERFORMANCE LED LAMP! The curing time is approximately 30 seconds. Close the bottle tightly immediately after use, otherwise UNGUISAN PRIMER can easily dry out.

Application of UNGUISAN HARD COMPOSITE GEL

Use the dispensing syringe to apply the gel precisely onto the nail. If necessary, you can also shape it using a spatula. The thickness should be approximately 2 mm up to a maximum of 3 mm.

Final Steps

Tamponade the nail fold with Ligasano® so that the open-pore foam is saturated with the gel. If necessary, remove any excess gel with a swab. Cure the gel tamponade for 20 seconds using the UNGUISAN® high-performance LED lamp.
